Unveiling Summer Delights: Join us for Sovereign Remedies' Summer Cocktail Launch Party

As the days grow longer and the Asheville sun shines brighter, there's no better time to celebrate the vibrancy of the season than with a refreshing cocktail in hand. At Sovereign Remedies, we're beyond excited to announce our upcoming Summer Cocktail Party. Join us on July 1st, from 4-6 pm, as we unveil our brand-new summer cocktail menu, expertly crafted by our resident mixologist, Tyler Shilling.

Meet the Maestro: Tyler Shilling

Before we dive into the details of the party, let's get to know the man behind the bar. Tyler Shilling's journey into the world of mixology started at home during the COVID lockdowns. Not content with the usual homemade drink, Tyler turned to YouTube, immersing himself in learning the art of cocktail making. Buying bottles of new drinks, he experimented with strange combinations, broadening his understanding of how different flavors interact.

After a year of self-training, Tyler joined the Sovereign Remedies family, initially as a barback, but his talent for creating unique cocktails quickly led him to the bartender's station. Today, we're proud to say that Tyler's creative genius is behind most of the drinks on our menu.

A Glimpse into the Summer Menu

So, what can you expect from our summer menu? In Tyler's words, his kitchen looks like "a bomb went off". He's been experimenting with everything from liqueur-infused ice cubes that melt at just the right rate, to the fat-washing technique, which infuses spirits with savory flavors.

One highlight of the new menu is a melon-based cocktail that promises to surprise. It's a unique blend of Midory, a Japanese melon liqueur, Amaro Nonino, an Italian bittersweet liqueur, Demerara rum, Suze, a very bitter and herbal liqueur, and a dash of lemon bitters. This drink, like all of Tyler's creations, is a testament to his ability to harmonize unexpected flavors.

Inspiration Behind the Drinks

Each of Tyler's cocktails is a reflection of his unique inspirations. His creations are driven by the flavors of the season and the inspiration of the moment. But it's not just about taste for Tyler; aesthetics play a significant role too. His fashion sense and appreciation for visual elements influence his craft, from the choice of glassware to the garnishes used. Sometimes, the concept of a cocktail is born simply from a name.
